We bought a crib when my youngest was 3-4 weeks old, she HATED her bassinet (waste of money,IMO wish we never bought it!)
My daughter didn't sleep in a crib until she was around 4 months old. Even then she slept with us most nights. She was almost a year old when she really started sleeping in her crib.
It depends on what you want. If you start them in the crib its esier as they get older....my sis learned the hard way with her twins, she let them sleep in the rock and plays or their swings so when they had to move to a flat surface becuase they go t too big they didn't like it. I know alot of people that do the pack and plays and cradles or the co-sleepers that attach to the bed, its really what you want for you child. What works best for your family.
For the first month and a half or so of his life, DS used his pack n' play...but only because we didn't have a crib. Since then he's been in his crib. He sleeps better in his crib than he ever did in his pack n' play...
But then my oldest nephew didn't have a crib until he was 9 months old or so, he just slept in his pack n' play...so yeah
Looks like I will just have to experiment! Thanks everyone.. I basically planned to use the newborn sleeper and pack n' play playard part, but my grandmother and MIL are acting like that's child abuse or something. Also, I never really thought about co-sleeping but it may not be a bad idea since DH is military and I plan to ebf.. I would just worry about rolling over on him or something??
