Has anyone else experienced panic attacks after child birth. I had never had one before until about a month after my first child was born. that was 2 months ago. Been to the ER its not my heart but it feels like a heart attack everytime and can last from 10 to 45 min. extreme chest pain, nausous, and bowls feel like i am loosing control.. was just wondering if anyone out there has experienced this too and if so how do you cope with it.

Do you know what is causing or triggering them? Dealing with the cause is really the best way to manage them.

no i dont. i thought it was stress cause when i first got one i was basically taking care of my son alone because my husband was doing overtime to pay for the medical bills but I have had a couple since then when i wasnt under any stress. Like today i was getting ready to go visit my sister and her new baby when I got one that lasted for almost an hour. Was not stressed or anything.

I'd say there are two types of causes for panic attacks. One is an anxiety disorder (like I have) and the other is that mentally you are getting overwhelmed and its a signal from your brain something's wrong. At least that's how my psychologists described it.
if you don't have a history of anxiety attacks or disorders, it could just be that you are close to burning out or having a depression, so they won't go away until you figure out the cause and remove it.
Even then they might never go away, like mine, but just become manageable. Good luck!
