Do you think they come from rough backgrounds? Or do you think a "normally" raised child with little to no abuse can very well be a murderer? I'm not talking the one time it's me or him kill like gangs or whatnot, I'm talking about the sick f**ks who enjoyed it, plotted it, maybe even repeated it. What happens to someone between the innocence of childhood and the transition to the real world that they lose all sight of themselves and commit the most horrible of sin/crime?

I think mental disorders can occur in anyone no matter socio-economical background.

:!: Rough backgrounds may increase it, but this.

A "normal" person can do it. You don't have to have a fucked up life to have a mental problem.

So do you think that all murderers are mentally insane/disorder? Or just that some have mental disorders which occur randomly?

Jeffrey Dahmer was never abused as a child.... So yes. I believe murderers and serial killers can be raised "normal" and have issues on their own.

Considering that anyone can have a mental disorder and it not be affected by age, race, wealth, etc i think anyone can be a murderer.

I think they can come from any background. Just because you are raised well doesn't mean you can't become a murderer, drug addict, or bad person.

Do you think or read that a lot of them have come from rough backgrounds though? Or are there more that are just mental and weren't getting help?

My mom used to work at a home for troubled kids, Sweetser. And there was one kid there who had wonderful parents and never went without, lived in a great neighborhood, etc. and he was absolutely terrifying. He scared the hell out of my mom, she said he just seemed like someone who would grow up to be a serial killer. Like, the kind who's really sneaky and smart. And he could be the most charming kid ever, which made it worse. Mom said it broke her heart every time his mother visited because all she could do was cry, she just couldn't handle him. He scared her and she was afraid for her other kids around him. He was like 9 then, I think he'd be about 18 now... My mom said she wouldn't be surprised if he'd already committed some crime and gotten away with it.

So is it safe to say generally people with rough backgrounds will commit petty crime to felonys but not likely murder?

when it comes to theft and arson and stuff ya its probably more common for them to come from rough backgrounds. but when it comes to murder no, they are mentally ill

Well statistics show people with tough backgrounds commit more crimes but people that had "perfect" lives will also commit crimes. Like a psychopath has no feelings (they can have perfect lives) plan and kill someone for getting in their way simply because. I think killers aren't in their right mind and every show or documentary I've seen proves that.

You have to have something wrong mentally to intentionally kill another human being on purpose. Especially if they get pleasure out of it.

Not always. Having a rough upbringing doesn't automatically mean you'll commit crimes. Sure it's more common but that's not always the case.
