Gender reveal parties? MissMommy ♥ Due November 18 (boy); Wisconsin 315 posts

Has anyone had a gender reveal party or been to one before? This is my first pregnancy and first baby and I'm just so excited. I want everything to be perfect and for it to be a happy, memorable time in my life.

I was considering having a gender reveal party with my family and friends. It'd just be aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, my grandma and a few close friends. Pretty much everyone who comes to other parties in our family lol.

Do you think they're a good idea or tacky? Should I just stick to a Facebook gender reveal of some kind? Any opinions are welcome!

I didn't have a gender reveal party but I think they're a pretty cool idea.. a friend of mine had one just for her family and revealed the gender with cupcakes. They were adorable! I don't know how she got blue icing inside the cupcakes, but it was a really awesome idea..531883_10200403320753959_1175384876_n_zp

Typically the invites say "no gifts please". Why would you want people to bring gifts when they don't know the gender?

i was worried about that when my family wanted to buy stuff for baby before we new the sex. I just said "no crap neutral stuff, if you wanna buy something, buy a cute toy or something"

Exactly. We made it very clear that 'their presence was present enough'! ;] But, we still ended up with LOTS of gift cards...

What if your baby doesn't show the sex? My second baby didn't. I had no choice really but to just wait it out.
But you probably have better ultrasound opportunities than us. We just get basic dating, NT, and anatomy, unless there's a reason for another scan after 20 weeks. Because its government funded they keep it to absolute minimum
