Oh, i retract the last part of my comment. She's only seen them a few times? HELL no. Tell her she can meet up with you and the kids another time to build a stronger bond before taking them overnight.

Knowing that there's more to the story (ie. you don't trust her) yeah that would piss me off. Honestly, though, I think that the whole "being around the lake" thing wasn't really why you don't want the kids up there. You don't want them up there because you don't trust HER. I would just straight up tell her: I don't trust you f**k off b***h.

Uh ya in your situation, I'd be comfortable with everyone going to the park or out to lunch.

That's about it! At least until she earns your trust and proves herself!

I legitly don't trust my special needs 4 yr old aroudn water though too. Like we are working on him with knowing water safety but it isn't something that has clicked in his head yet. Its just ugh! I was a b***h to her about it. She always complains about how her son didn't tell her he had 2 kids. WEll ummm excuse me maybe if you were in his life but since you bailed when he was 13 I don't see why he would have to tell you shit.

Yea I let her watch them one night for like 5 hrs while I went out at my house with my mom coming and checking on them about every hour. I about didn't even go out because I was just too leary, but once my mom said she would be home to check on them I was fine.

Yes it would. Grandparents always seem to over step their self. I'm with my SO and we always have his mom up our ass how we never bring them to see her and we will tell her to come over and she's like I shouldn't have to. Well maybe if you didn't live with your pot smoking son and his gf in a filthy disgusting house we would bring them over more. Plus they drink constantly over there.. ugh

Like most others said, YOU'RE the parent.
Random side note, if your son is "deeply attracted to" and "has no fear" of water maybe you should take him for swimming lessons.

That's a good idea! God I dont know what I would do without my MIL.

I love my mom dearly, but honestly, I trust my kids with my MIL completely! My mom is a closet alcoholic and I dont exactly let her babysit!

But my MIL is pretty much one of my best friends lol we do everything together and see eachother pretty much every day!

See BDs step mom is amazing! She took Audrianna for a girl's day out while Cylus was getting dental work done and I trust her without a doubt with the kids. :) She even says she would never take the kids around water at this age and she works out at a Boat Marina

I get that. I don't trust either kid around water. Neither have fear of it. So I have my SN's almost 6 year old trained to know that he needs a lifejacket.

I wouldn't want my young kids by a lake either.
