How long did you wait before TTC #2? Nicola. 2 kids; Huntsville, AL, United States 7835 posts

DS is 10 months old and I have been thinking A LOT about baby #2. I am still not sure if its just baby fever or if I am really ready for another baby.

Just curious about when you TTC #2.
Are you happy with the length of time, or lack of time, that you waited to have baby #2. Or would you change your timing on baby #2? Why/why not?

Thanks in advance :D

Psh, I wanted to start trying a week after having DS lol. We actually tried for a little while when he was 6 months old, now that he's almost two we aren't trying but we are also not preventing. We decided we would like them closer in age and as soon as we knew we could afford another one comfortably we started trying.

BD and I had started trying for #2 last May, then we split in June. DD is 2, I had hoped to have another by now but I'm happy with it, for now

I waited till mine was 2 and a half and started trying again. I love the bigger spaces in my kids. Now they are 7 and 4 and they play awesome together. With our 3rd we waited even a bit longer. My youngest and this new baby will be 4 years 3 months apart.

Although I LOVE my children and their age gap... I wish I had waited longer to have my daughter. I wish I had waited till he was 4 to have her. That way he's potty trained, he can communicate better and understand directions like its quiet time or he can't jump on the bed by his sister head. You know. Plus, I'm not dealing with the tantrums as much. Just my thoughts.

We didn't try but I got pregnant 3 days before he turned 6 months. It's ROUGH. That's for sure. I'd have rather he be like 2.

I didn't try. #2 was a surprise! I got pregnant when my oldest was 16 months...they are 25 months apart. I would have preferred 3 years between the two though.

I waited 4 years. Financially I'm glad I waited. Dd will be starting kindergarten a month and a half after this baby is born, so when I go back to work he will be the only one I have to pay for childcare for. Also, I will have one in diapers etc instead of two.

I personally wanted them closer in age so they would be close and be able to play together. But this works for us too.

We planned it so our oldest was two n' half years old when her sister was born. We are both happy with the length between ages. Our oldest was old enough that she could play independently, also old enough that she became a little helper. Our oldest brings clothes, diapers, wipes, and toys for her sister.

Now that our youngest is mobile our first daughter is old enough to understand taking turns with toys. She also is able to understand gentle touch, and how to speak to her sister (not yelling "No").

I wanted to have my kiddos close together in age. I had a feeling that my ex and I weren't going to make it, so we held off on TTC even though I had bad baby fever. We divorced when DS was 13 months old.
Fast forward to a new relationship, we started TTC May of 2011 (DS was a little over 3). We're still not pregnant, but hopefully soon. DS and this not even conceived child will be over 6 years apart. Not on purpose (obviously)

we started trying for number 2 when my son was 2...when this baby comes he'll be going on 3. I think 3-4 years is a perfect age gap IMO. I can't imagine having 2 really close age...especially during the terrible 2s and 3s...just one is bad  lol

I planned on TTC when DS was 12 months. I wanted my first two to be close in age but a deployment c**k blocked me. So my babies are 2.5 years apart and I honestly I wish I would of waited until DS was fully potty trained before I would of given birth to DD. So 3 years apart would of been perfect lol.

DD is 13 months now; we aren't officially trying, but also not preventing. We will be happy if it happens now or a few years down the road. However I would love to get pregnant once she is 24-28 months therefore she would be three once we would deliver #2.
