potty training help Mama*Kayla* 2 kids; Ontario 281 posts7th May
my son is 2 1/2 and he has been doing great with potty training. hes had a few accidents but thats to be expected. the only thing is, he refuses to poop on the potty. ive tried everything but this child will litterally hold it til i put his pull up on him at night time. so my question is, how do i get him to poop on the potty?

I honestly think there is no such thing as potty training a child...what we do instead is potty train the parents to hover over their kid, asking them every 15 min. if they have to go potty. I tried so hard to potty train my son and he just kept having accidents...I finally gave up and one day just shy of 3 yrs old he stopped going in his diaper/pull-up. The only time he has ever had an accident since is when he's been sick (diarrhea) and that's maybe happened twice. The rest of my kids I completely left alone about it, didn't hassle them at all. They did the exact same thing, although DS 2 went in stages and wouldn't poop in the potty at first but it came. None of them potty trained past 3...my daughter was 18 months and I've never had to ask or remind any of them to go to the bathroom and aside from being sick none have had accidents. They do it when they're ready.
