Weird to name baby same name?? Bailey's Mommy♥ Due October 5 (girl); 17 kids; Oceanside, California 108 posts

SORRY SO LONG ...

So my great uncle's middle name was Brooke, and he was such an important man to my family that I was thinking about using his middle name for a middle name for our second...

I've also been looking at B names (our first is Bailey) and I'm not super into same letter names for kids, but thought, maybe I'd like a B name again...

I love Brea (Bray-uh) and think Brielle is pretty too... I think BREA BROOKE is my favorite BUT a childhood friend's daughter is named the same thing!

I knew her name was Breya, but didnt think it'd be weird until I found out her middle name is Brooke. Who would've thought!! I never talk to or see him, but am friends with a lot of his family on Facebook lol!

Is it weird to name them the same!?!?

Is it 'okay'? Sure, you're not doing anything wrong, especially if you don't see each other often. But I don't think I would, personally.

I really don't have an opinion on this but just wanted to say that my best friend's name is spelled Brea but pronounced Bray-uh, just as you want to do. People always call her Bree-uh and she hates it. Of course your choice but just wanted to throw that out there.

This is just my opinion. Ultimately, you can name your kid whatever you want. If it's someone you see frequently, I would not use the same name. If it's someone you don't see or only see occasionally, I would use the same name.

I never see or talk to him... I mean its been 5 years... I did run into his mom, but even that was over a year ago. We currently are stationed on the opposite side of Ca from "home" ... I was just thinking if his family saw online that they might think its weird... I just wish I didn't even find out that little girls middle name and problem would be solved lol!

I guess I didn't mean okay because you're right it's not doing something wrong... Was just wondering if other people thought it would be weird. I randomly ran into him 5 years ago, but hadn't talked to really before that in a while too... I'm just friends with some of his family, because I've known them all so long. Just wish I didn't find out "his" Breya's middle name! Lol

Yeah, that's definitely a concern .... But, there is a city of brea (bray-uh) and la brea here in California so hopefully it'd be less likely ? Lol I dunno :)

I'd use a different name and keep Brooke as a middle name.

yeah I guess. just pretty frustrating that my husband and I agree on a name only to find out someone I knew growing up used the exact same middle name too... it just doesn't seem fair, but seems a lot of people would think it's weird now that I know the other girls name :/

my son is named robert anthony, i have a cousin named robert anthony... my husband has always loved that named and growing up he always promised himself he would name his first boy that no matter what, granted my cousin thought we named our son after him, but since i haven't seen him in over 10 years it really doesn't matter to me. name your kid what ever you want, but i would agree with the rest, i personally wouldn't use brea, maybe do breanna or even just bay?

I like Brielle but think Briella Brooke flows better. I personally wouldn't give my child the same name, but that's to save myself the awkward moments just in case I did happen to run into an old friend/acquaintance/etc. who named their child the same thing.

If you haven't seen this person or talkes to them in that long I wouldn't be concerned at all. If it is something you love use it......what if you go another 10 years and don"t talk to him and you regret not using the name because of someone who isn't a good enough friend that ypu talk to them
