DS#1 will be 3 in two months :( he recently decided that he wants his party Jake and the Neverland Pirates instead of Hotwheels. So now I need ideas please...

I am getting an inflatable waterslide that looks like Bucky (the ship). His birthday is on the 4th of July so it's going to be super hot (most likely).

Also, what sunscreen do you find works best for you? Last year we used Banana Boat in the spray can and all of the kids ended up burnt, some with sun poisoning, and DS's pedi said his turned into Scarlet Fever shortly after that...

Neutrogena or California Baby, the highest SPF I can get, reapplied every 30 minutes. The sun here is brutal.

Have you thought about renting a huge tent? We always get one for the surfing competition at the beach for the kids.

I would try the water babies sunblock or anything at least SPF 50 and reapply it every hour (just in case). I bought the equate brand this year and it seems to work just fine, but it smells AWFUL and kind of takes your breath for a minute. (It is the spray kind, though...)

That sounds fun!!!! My LO is going to be 2 on the 3rd of July and I have no idea what to do! Also, I heard not to use spray sunscreen on kids.. Idk how true it is.. But now I wouldnt risk it... I use the stuff in the pink bottle with the cartoon of the little girl and dog on it, sorry I cant remember the brand right now.

I will look into that one, is it waterproof? Is Water Babies any good?

We had it at a friend's house last year, this year it will be at my house and we have a big cover patio outback so it'll be a little easier on them. I just don't want that to happen again. My nieces are 9, 4, 2, and 9 months (adjusted for party). Then my sons' are 3 and 1. They will also be a few older kids there...so mainly kids from like 13-0 lol. I felt so bad last year when they all got burned so badly because we applied so much sunscreen to them and apparently it just didn't work :/

The Banana Boat kind we got said it was for babies :/

The first inflatable we had was at DS's 2nd bday party, he loved it! They had a blast...

I use SunStuff by Purple Prairie... it's 99% natural, the only thing that works on DS and has a 1 rating on the 1-10 skin hazard scale (1 being the least hazardous and 10 being the most hazardous). I'm in love with this stuff haha.

Maybe a pirate ship cake? You can get pirate swords and eyepatches from the dollar store!

Love the eyepatches and pirate swords idea :)

We're getting a cookie cake...DS is lactose intolerant. He can't have regular cake or he pukes everywhere. We're also doing Italian Ice for "ice cream"

Aw we match then! lmao, have you tried rice milk ice cream or soy ice cream? I had a soy ice cream cake for my baby shower with Noah and everyone loved it... didn't even realize it wasn't real ice cream!
