Quoting amazing b**bs.:" There was a fire in her apartment or building and she had to throw a lot of the food from her cabinets away and her food stamps don't come in until Friday."

I was wondering where the fire thing came into play..

Still, as much as it sucks, 10 dollars will hold you over OP. Sorry about the apartment fire.

Aren't they like, expedited? Doesn't it normally take a month for normal FS?
That doesn't mean they'll hand you the money right then and there when you apply for emergency ones. .

So, you actually have FS, but ran out, or? I'm so confused.

Either way, as previously mentioned, if you do have even $10, you can do a lot more than you'd think with that. Or check food banks.

Quoting Just Ames:" :!: Right. And while we're on the subject why don't you get a job? If you can't gather up pocket change ... [snip!] ... for some food and you'd rather sit and wait for it to be handed to you then maybe your little life plan isn't working out."

Did I say I was broke? You assumed I was broke. I really don't find the need to throw my financial business online. After this month, I am actually turning my food stamps off because it won't be needed. But considering the fire and the fact that my husband just started his new job, and won't be paid until this week. The food stamps are needed.

I wasn't complaining about not having food or not being able to buy food. Like I stated above, it was an honest question. You just assumed I was "bitching" about it. I guess because I cussed or used quotation marks, I dunno.

I agree. Especially if OP has an Aldi or other discount grocery in her area.

You never even answered though, about whether or not you have $10

If you have food in your house of any kind, and any money that could be put towards more food, it's not that big of an emergency. There are people who are living outside under bridges and shit and eat out of a garbage can. You're sitting home and sick of cereal and don't feel that $10 would be sufficient, and now people are saying you're using money that you DO have to buy Mother's Day things?

IDK, that just doesn't seem like an emergency.

It seemed like you were bitching about the FS not being there yet, not that you were asking although it was phrased like a question.

No you are miserable and angry. And you wouldn't be in such a shitty situation had you had insurance. Time to get a job and use your own money now.

Yes. Because my husband just started his new job and will be getting paid for that job this week. Obviously.

Oh! Pardon me! People on food stamps aren't allowed to work and make money so that they can get off food stamps! I forgot! Sorry.

If your not broke then why are you making a big deal about emergency FS. If you have money then go buy some damn food. With your own money. Geez!

Too many people use welfare as a f**king crutch. Some people like OP would be fucked without it. You should know of other options.

Wait, so you applied for emergency FS to hold you over for 2 days until your husband gets paid, but you actually have money/food to do that, yet you refuse to use either?

Are you serious?
