The Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph in Australia are launching their own pro-vax campaign called 'No jab, no play' with a nod from the medical association. The vaccination rates in the suburbs of Sydney and Manly are below 85 percent -- a high rate is considered 95 percent. The goal is to stop no-vax kids from entering child care facilities and preschools, and to punish their "free-riding" parents (their phrase) who refuse or forget to get their kids immunized.
Dr Steve Hambleton told The Sunday Telegraph:
We need to lift the barriers, we need people to make an active decision to immunise because we have a responsibility to our children to protect them, and a responsibility to the community to contribute to herd immunity
He goes on to say, "The free-riders will actually cause a disease to occur in vaccinated children whose parents did the responsible thing."

Now I get DD vaccinated but that is my personal choice. Everyone should have a choice on how they want to parent and no one should be punished for their parenting choices. Do you think this is going to be successful in the day cares and spread elsewhere or do you think it will fail?? I personally think it will fail.If you agree with them where do you think the line should be on others telling us how to parent?

Well if 85% are vaccinated, I would think it would be successful? There are schools here that are like that too, that require certain vaccines. I don't know how I feel about that. they're not only punishing the parents though they're also punishing the children.

That's what I thought lol That's why I get my DD vaccinated so that if she does get sick hopefully it won't be as bad as if she wasn't vaccinated.

Oh really? I wasn't aware that some were like that already. I thought you just had to fill out a form to become exempt for either religious reasons or others that I can't remember.

Honestly I don't know fully what is required or if any at all because mine are vaccinated but I thought certain ones were required?

I usually don't care what a parent does with their child, but with the amount of "dead" illnesses on the rise, the trend of non-vaccinating makes me nervous.

I honestly only know what I see on here because DD is fully vaccinated and she doesn't go to daycare lol

If the childcare facility/preschool is private, that is their right to deny children who have not been vaccinated.

I agree with it. Not vaccinating isn't just dangerous for the child not getting them, it endangers other kids, the ones too young to get the shots, and the ones with immune problems. If you don't want to vaccinate your child, more power to you, but I don't want any kind that could have Rubella near my baby.

Nope, not legal in ANY state in the US. You just have to fill out an exemption form. They just don't tell you that.

In the article they are talking about having them ALL follow these guidelines.

Those are good points but do you not take that child to the park, or store than either? Let people visit?

What is the exemption?
