That was really unnecessary.

I'm agnostic so I don't follow any specific theology or absence of it...

But I've based my personal morals and values, loosely, on a blend of the tenets of Catholic social teaching and what I see as the actions and intentions necessary to improve the human condition.

I think that Jesus' way WAS "the way" but I have seen that there are a number of religious and humanistic philosophies that incorporate the same ideas outside of Christianity, while a lot of Christians go against many of the things they claim to stand for. So if there's a God, I'm pretty sure he would just want us to take care of his creation to the best of our abilities. Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, etc. etc. etc....we all want to cope with and ease suffering, to live a righteous life, and to love, and so detailed views aren't important. If there is no god, same thing. Do good, be nice, play fair, love each other. It doesn't really matter what's in the fine print, the imprint you leave on humanity is what's important.

So if a child grew up in a rural area and wasn't taught about God, then he would be out of luck? I think God loves us all. If we truely worked to better our world, do what's right, I think that's good enough for him

Children are automatically accepted into heaven. And if the kid was old enough to make the decision about his faith and just never "learned" about God then sadly yes, they do not go to heaven. ( not saying its pretty, but that is why we are called to be missionaries)

God judges us by what we know, the knowledge of Him that we have. So if a person grew up and never heard of Christ? They wouldn't be out of luck, God would judge them based on what they do know. I'm totally blanking on scripture references right now but it talks about how we are not to sin against our conscience (1st corinth, I think..)

See, I disagree. After a detailed study with our Pastor on 1st Corinth (pretty sure that's it..) it talked about stuff like this, and how God would use judgement based on the knowledge that we have.

Oh, I agree about the missionaries thing! Most def!

The Bible says that even creation is proof of who He is. So, none of us are without excuse. We will all be judged, regardless of a if a missionary comes (or whatever..) but different "levels" of judgement...does that make sense?
