when to worry? (implanon bc) Tay L 1 child; St Paul, Minnesota 719 posts

I wasn't sure where to post this, so posted it here.
I have the implanon. I first got the depo, waited the 10 days before having sex, did not wait the 6 weeks. I got the implanon like 2 or 3 weeks later. I know they test you before they give it to you, since they can't give you any type of bc if you're already pregnant. Well I didn't get my period for like 2 months and freaked, took 2 tests, both negative. then got my period for 2-3 weeks. Now i haven't gotten my period since march? Should i worry? I was told that implanon doesn't take your period away and that most people bleed for what feels like forever. so i haven't had a period for 2 months and i'm starting to worry. I even bought pregnancy tests! I can't be pregnant again! My baby is only 5 months and at this point, i'm good with just one forever! lol (also theres no point in trying to get tubes tied or anything. in case in 5 or so years i decide i want another one. also Dr.'s wont do it unless you either have 3 kids or are in you late 30's or are 40. Dr's finally did it for my neighbor after she had 4 kids and didn't even want one. but her bc failed cause she was taking medicine. My mom was able to get hers done last year cause she's in her 40's)

So anyone who has had or does have implanon, have you had this happen? Should i worry? should i take a test? (starting to freak out.)

I have the implanon NXT (nexplanon) and my period is 511 days late.

Different people have different reactions to it. If it stops your period completely which any long term hormonal BC can do, then you are supposed to test monthly anyway.

I have a friend who hasn't had her period the whole duration of the implanon. I also have it and my periods are quite off. I at first was having them every 2 weeks then it went to nearly 2 months late, and now I am on a decent regularish schedule.

Oh forgot to mention I keep testing like crazy because my implanon likes to make me feel pregnant. I guess it is really highly effective as long as it has been placed correctly. If it migrates and you can't feel it, then I guess it can fail. But anything can happen I guess.

Ok thanks. I'm hoping its nothing! But i'm starting to freak!
I had my period for 2-3 weeks and havent had it since. Got implanon in jan. got period at end of january, begining of feb. had it 2-3 weeks and now nothing. I thought i saw spotting and was going to start, but then nothing and a test said i was negative.
Just being paranoid. The last thing i need is another baby!!

Yeah I spotted a few times and started freaking out. I keep wasting money on those tests though :( I can't help it. I like to ease my mind lol.

It is actually really common to stop bleeding with the implanon. A lot of different people have different reactions and side effects with it, so I wouldn't worry. I've had months of bleeding, and months of not. Just depends really.

I'm such a worry wort! I used to worry so much that when i didn't end up pregnant after 4 years of little to no protection at times that i thought i couldnt have kids. Then i went on regular bc, missed pills cause i couldnt afford it for like a month and now i have a baby. (we werent even really having sex cause of the no bc. just takes one time, one slip up.)

Yea what was weird is that i was on and off for 3 years. Then went on again, missed a month, did it once or twice in that month and then bam, baby. Like why didn't it happen during those 3-4 years when i was barely on it? (when they were charging less without using my insurance yet it was still over 30 a pack a month. So i couldn't afford to buy it, so i didn't and we were doing it 2-3 times daily. No condoms, cause that's when i found out i was allergic to non-latex as well as latex.)
Now Im back on bc and still working. (i think I'll always worry. Especially now that i know i can have a child. I worried when on or off. I've never had a normal period not even when taking the pills.)
