Can be kind of annoying.

I just watched a Baby Story. The lady was induced and stayed at 7cm for forty five minutes so they told her that she HAD to have a C-section because she was failing to progress.

She was crying and the doctor said "I understand that it can be hard when you lose control over your birth"

Like wtf?

yea. did she refuse? unless baby's or her health was in danger then she did not need a csection if only 45 minutes had elapsed. that is ridiculous.

I guess I'm not one to believe I have any control over my births but...I don't see where what he said was wrong...I mean, if he said "Jesus Christ lady fucking get over it..." I can see...

Am I missing something?

I didn't progress past 5 or 6 cm for hours. Like almost 6 hours.
They didn't give me a c-section, even though I was begging for one. I honestly felt I needed to get her out immediately, but the bitch nurses refused to tell the doctor.

I guess I would have had one too I went almost 12 hrs with no process at all and a c section was never mention but then I had a midwife and gave birth in a military hospital. I think it's ridiculous that doctors treat pregnancy as an illness.

There is NO reason for a csection just cause she didn't dilate more in 45 minutes. None. They should have given her body time to actually do things.

And yes, you have control over your births. You don't have to be induced (unless medically necessary) and tons of other things. So yeah, you're missing something.

Was the baby's heart rate dropping? That's why I had an emergency c-section. :(

She had the surgery.

I didn't think he was an asshole because of what he said, just the implication that she had "lost control" of her body.

Also the babies heart rate was fine

My csection was because they lost his heartbeat all together and couldn't even pick it up with an internal monitor. Things like that, make sense. But just because she isn't progressing enough doesn't make sense.

Got it. I read it as though you thought what he said was an asshole thing so, misunderstood.

As far as control goes...no, I don't think you have any. You have preferences, and can refuse things, sure...but ultimately you aren't the one who gets to decide how things turn out.

Yeah, I agree. 45 minutes doesn't seem very long at all as far as labor is concerned.

Doctors just want women to pop the babies out as fast as possible. The doctors around here are like that too. I don't know anyone around here who wasn't induced or has csections.

Don't Doctors get paid more for c-sections?
