Would she have a record if she was caught with the amount of weed she has to buy to smoke it every day? Would she lose her license to practice medicine?

So technically luck is all that's standing between her being broke and having a record?

that's the only reason? You aren't afraid of side effects or even death?

Eh, I know of one or two. But they're not exactly drug users, they smoke a joint here and there. And you're exactly right about it being mostly luck that they don't have a record.
However, I think, even if they do have a record for marijuana, there isn't anything morally wrong with smoking a plant and getting high provided you're not driving and you don't have responsibilities, children, or heavy machinery to attend to. No worse than cigarettes or alcohol in my book. But that's another topic.

My mom is the exact same! Lol and now she makes 40k a year. So I really think people just use drugs as an excuse to fail and get too caught up on them. Being responsible is key but not a guarantee lol

I don't think there is anything wrong with smoking marijuana or drinking alcohol occasionally. Mother or not. I am a bit more hesitant about the alcohol though but if you want to smoke marijuana then smoke away. As long as you don't do it in front of your kids or put your kids in any danger from your indulging then I don't see the problem. Taking most pharmaceutical drugs will put your life more at risk then if you smoke some mj. As for the illegal part... I don't buy into it. I'm not a sheep that let's the government tell me what is bad and what is good for me. Illegal or not. Alcohol is much worse then marijuana and is the cause of many many deaths in our country.. Yet it's legal. You can't even imagine the drugs that the fda approves that are way more harmful to our health then marijuana is. Yet they constantly bash it and they keep marketing the pharmaceutical drugs. Do you know why? Money... Just like with everything else in this country. With that said I would never indulge in synthetic drugs of any kind. Mother or not. You can die from overdosing on ecstasy. You can't from smoking some weed. I don't even take over the counter medicine because of all the crap they put in it. Not to mention the long list of side effects. Where I live if you get caught with marijuana, they fine you just like a parking ticket but even so what kind of idiot brings their weed out in public. You are definitely taking a risk there imo.

Oh and one word. Cigarettes. The thing that kills millions of people. It isn't illegal. Yea.... Our government surely doesn't have our best interest at heart.

Why? Just cuz it's not 100k? Right now that's a lot better than what most people are getting. I think she's successful.

You said your mom does drugs and makes 40k a year...as if it WAS 100k/year. 40k a year is pretty average.

Right, the average is lower than that. Some teachers even make less than that, depending on location.

It also depends on your definition of successful. I think anyone who is happy with their career is successful, so long as they can also make all their bills.

lol. No. It's better that the kid is somewhere else but totally unacceptable.
The mom is a turd.

As parents, we should be raising our to have high standards and expect a lot from themselves and those they associate with.
Clearly, this concept hasn't occurred to this mother-of-the-year.

Not talking to anyone directly but there are a lot of people that make 100k and over who pop prescription pills on a daily basis just to get by. These people aren't better than anyone because they make more money. They are still risking their lives and their families life. These people lie and steal from their families to get high just like any other addict would. It's not really about illegal drugs, it's about drugs period.

Assuming your mom is over 35, making $40k just shows that she can hold a job and make some basic instinctive decisions. It's not a indicator of success. yes, it's better than being over 35 and making $25k as that would be an indicator of not being able to hold a job.
