When is it okay to give a child sushi? I heard anything but peanut butter and honey is okay before one, but I'm still unsure of sushi? I bought some sushi today and I wanted to see if some rice with masago (fish eggs) would be okay for an 11 month old?

I wouldn't that young. There is a lot more things then just peanut butter and honey not to give under a year old

i personally would never give my child any sort of raw meat, fish, etc. until they were at least old enough to actually know what it is and ask for it

I wouldn't give sushi to an eleven year old, nor fish eggs. I never ate sushi, I hate seafood but SIL used to love it, up till the time that story in the news came up where that guys almost died because there were worms in his sushi that were eating up his throat. YUCK!!

If you completely trust the place you're getting it from, it might be okay. But remember, this is raw meat he's eating. He's probably going to have a hard time digesting it still and raw meat can contain small parasites that adult bodies have learned to handle well.

I wouldn't do raw meat/fish of ANY kind with a child that young.
I take my daughter out for sushi (she is almost 4) but I only let her get the california rolls or the ones with cooked shrimp in them... no raw fish or fish eggs.

I'm wondering the same... I've heard honey, peanut butter, egg whites and milk...but that's it. In fact, many pedis are now recommending starting peanut butter/eggs earlier if there isn't any family history at all of allergies.

Yeah I have given him eggs. I heard that has changed where they recommend it. I haven't heard that about peanut butter though.

And it seems like the general answer is no. I was just curious because I see people say anything but peanut butter and honey.

Sushi isn't raw! Sashimi is raw... Tuna rolls and Cali rolls would be totally fine.

DS had sushi at about 10 months old. We just didn't give him anything with raw fish in it.
