my son is 18 months old and i just bought another case of formula. im so sick of it! its like a almost 300 dollar a month bill that i cant wait to get rid of!

my son has oral adversions, has been to oral therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and nutritionalists and no one seems to help. im begining to think he will never eat real food.

im getting so discouraged :( anyone else have a baby with oral adversions refuse to eat this long? he drinks just fine so were no longer tube fed, but im so sick of having him on formula. there was talk about putting him on pediasure, but i dont see how that would help since its sweeter, i think it would just encourage him to drink more of that and not even try foods?

just a vent..

I'm sure you have tried everything but In case you haven't,

Have you tried not giving him formula at all and waited until he gets really hungry and will just eat what's in front of him? Or will he basically let himself starve?

My daughter preferred formula over food for a long time until about 20 months and she was tiny so they to,d us to give it to her for her nutrition, but did not have the same oral as version as your son. That has to be so hard and expensive. I had two on formula for a bit when my son weaned off the b**b and wouldn't anything but the formula and is lactose intolerant so I know the cost is crazy. I hope you can figure out something that works for you and your son.

we cant because he has other factors involved. unexplained hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia, and hypokalemia along with a vit d defiecency that they cant find the reason for (tested for digeorge, microarray, u/s of kidneys, etc) they want to do a mri of his pituitary and thyroid next (we know hs hypothyroid rathers its congeital or secondary we dont know)

That's no fun! We are still doing night time diapers. It's no where near the cost, but I'm tired of buying them. I hope things start to turn in the right direction soon.

Have you tried asking the doctor about getting a prescription for it? Insurances will cover it most of the time.

ds is underweight & wic said that as long as I get a prescription from the Dr he can still get formula or pediasure after he turns a year. Maybe check & see of they can do something like that for you
