transitioning to crib. HELP! Brantley + 1 Due November 28; 1 child; Mills River, 3112 posts13th May
Okay so DS is almost 9 months old. He has slept in bed with me since he was about 4 months old. We are now trying to transition him to his crib, we put it back up yesterday and put him in it and he seemed to like it and everything then we put him to sleep like we usually do, bottle and rocking, and when he was asleep put him in his crib, that lasted until about 12:30 then he just screamed until I put him in bed with me. He is in his crib now taking a nap so my question is since I don't want to CIO would it be easier to transition him into the crib for naps and then after a week or so of napping in the crib with no problems start putting him in his crib for bedtime?

We had this problem, too. We ended up putting our son's crib in our bedroom. He can still see me at night, so he doesn't cry, or I can soothe him quickly and put him back to bed. But he's not in OUR bed, taking up all that room with his wiggly, bed-hogging self.

I would just start out with putting him in his crib first then when he wakes up in the middle of the night put him in bed with you for a couple nights then let him cry a little bit longer every night until he learns to self sooth,oh and get one of those fish tank crib toys my daughter is 6 months and she wont even lay in her crib without hers turned on after about 5 mins of watching it shes out
