Do you pick wild berries? [[Breezy]] 1 child; Savannah, Georgia 14424 posts

We've got blackberries and I was wondering how I should go about washing them.

Should I soak them in vinegar? Water?
Agitate them with baking soda?

What do you do if you pick your own berries?

We always just rinsed them really well in water. Or just ate them as we picked them.
I miss picking raspberries at my grandparents. :)

Rinse them gently in water. Don't leave them soak. & only rinse what you are going to eat right away.

Why would you soak them in vinegar or use baking soda?

I'm just concerned because there could be god only knows what on them. Neighborhood cats are always jumping into our yard, sometimes spraying...there's snakes, rodents, and who knows what else pissing and shitting all in the shrubs lol.

Vinegar is antibacterial and baking soda exfoliates...I clean store-bought fruits (blueberries, strawberries, grapes, etc.) with baking soda.

I rinse them in really hot water. Especially blackberries because they're usually COVERED in chiggers for some reason. At least around here they always are.

Me too! IT's so nice to take my daughter out during the summer and pick them together. I love all berries..but, mulberries are definitely a favorite (especially because they're free!)
