They did a TV show called the food hospital here, it was all about treating various ailments with food and there was one case of depression.
If you go to www.channel4.com/thefoodhospital you should be able to find the info on depression.
Cut out processed, sugary foods. Eat foods which are good for the brain like fishes high in omega 3 (salmon, mackerel), and dark leafy vegetables with folate in.

What would be the vegetarian version of fish oil? Blue-green algae pills, I thought I read, but is there something more common? I've never even see the algae ones... My sperm donor is bipolar and the way I've been lately, I'm revisiting the idea that I may be as well. I feel like I am and I am in a depressive period, because I am tired, sometimes it feels like I'm ill, and just so down in the dumps I don't know what to do...

That site is interesting... I wish there was an American equivalent though. I'm looking at their episode on ADD/ADHD and it has all these food colorings to exclude, but they all have different names than what I'm used to.
