Quoting Elliot Grace's Mama:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Mummy to be to Daisy:</b>" Right??? Don't really see why that ... [snip!] ... And when my daughter is here...she won't be dumped in front of a games console."</blockquote> You are quite laughable"

Ah well I just don't think its right to put a baby/toddler in front of a games console they should be running round and playing not being couch potatoes but thats just my opinion and everyone's entitled to there own opinion.

Most American kids are not fat. Have you even been inside of an American elementary school? Most kids are not even chubby.

Quoting Mummy to be to Daisy:" Doubt someone lit the wrong end of my tampon seeing as I'm nearly 33 weeks pregnant, but thanks for the observation. 3-4 times a week? :/ I went nearly everyday."

Well considering i work I dont have the option of taking my child everyday. I take her every opportunity i get. Also who is in your right to judge how parents raise their children.

Kids don't have to spend all day everyday outside. They're not animals.
You know.. these things come in handy when you start stressing out over dinner/cleaning... ect.
You would have no idea, hence you don't have a toddler to take care of yet.
It's nice to go 20-30 mins uninterrupted by a toddler throwing a raging fit.

Today, about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese, nearly triple the rate in 1963.(Hence not as many or very limited choice of consoles in 1963).This is a problem.America is the largest nation on the earth, reasons such as this.I know most half decent parent here in the UK wouldn't dream of putting a baby/toddler in front of a games console, its absurd.

That may be the numbers, but that's not what I'm seeing. There may be 1 or 2 heavy kids in each elementary class here. There's like 30 kids per class. I saw my peers start gaining weight after high school; long past the age of playing outside.

My 3yo is almost as smart as a first grader(not bragging, just had him tested).. So, uh, your argument is kinda invalid. We are not talking game console with mind numbing blank stare going on..we are talking tablets here..that kids can either pick up or put down/take with them. These are educational apps, not violent or brain cell killing crap.

My kids play, my kids gasp..watch tv, go outside, they do art. They also have to earn game time, or I use it as a distraction when I need some time/space in a pinch. Its fun for them, fun for me. They also have just as much fun with a stick or a piece of string or some tupperware

Jeeze..

Damn. I missed all this. Too bad for me. Giving my daughter my kindle all day long wasn't my intention. If you really want to know, we went to the park for 3 hours yesterday and had a picnic. Pretty sure I never said anything about her not going outside and playing or anything else. She doesn't just sit on my kindle all day. In fact, she hasn't once touched the thing..... People on here have too much sharp objects shoved up their ass's. Must be uncomfortable.

Fisher price has some really cute apps that are free and I second whoever said Disney junior.

My 18 month old dd LOVES the iPad. And I'll be honest, I'm glad she does because this momma gets to take a shower practically everyday now! :). And we somehow manage to make it outside to the park everyday it's not raining, and we walk 2-3 miles a day...
