I believe its above 140 is a girl? Something like that.

My son's heartbeat was 153 bpm, I believe, and went down to 130-something during the last tri.

That early the heartrate tends to be different. My baby's was always that high in the beginning too.

OP- you should do the placenta test!
http://pregnancy.about.com/od/genderpredictions1/ss/Ramzis-Method-To-Determine-Fetal-Gender.htm

"Though the internet is a buzz with a "new" method of determing if you're having a boy or girlas early as six weeks into pregnancy. The new method has been dubbed The Ramzi's Method.
The Ramzi's Method is original research done by Dr. Saad Ramzi Ismail. In this multi-center prospective cohort study, more than 5,000 fetuses were scanned for placental location and gender. These scans were done over a ten year period in Canada. The same sonographer did all of the exams. In the first trimester, six weeks gestation, 22% of the mothers hadtransvaginal ultrasounds performed. 78% of the mothers chose to have a regular transabdominal ultrasound done. They measured both gestational age as well as where the placenta was located. The mothers returned between weeks 18-20 and were rescanned using the abdominal ultrasound. 99% of the fetal genders were confirmed at this point and 100% of the results were confirmed at birth. This study did not include twins, ectopic pregnancies, and other complications.
In using this data, Dr. Ramzi Ismail concluded that at six weeks gestation, 97.2% of the male fetuses had a placenta or chorionic villi on the right side of the uterus. When it came to female fetuses, there were 97.5% of the chorionic villi or placenta on the left side of the uterus."

At 8w4d my first sons HR was 143ish

At 8w5d with my second son was 146ish

And 8w4d with this pregnancy, my little girls was 183.

If its done early I think it's pretty close.

I saw a poll ages ago that asked if your baby's heart rate was either above or below the mark and if you had a girl or boy. 500 people voted yes their baby girl had a heart rate over 160 only 100ish people had boys over that mark at 10 weeks.
