Still Bleeding at 3+ months PP after C-section. JeNnAs MoMoM 2 kids; Pennsylvania 3090 posts

I know you guys aren't doctors. My family doctor ordered blood work of all my hormones, thyroid, etc. and it all came back normal so I have to follow up with my Gyn. At my 6 week follow up he checked me and said I was normal and the bleeding was normal. (That was about 8 weeks ago.) What could be causing me to still bleed after this long? We are going to Jamaica in a few weeks and it would be dreadful if I am still bleeding! How can I get it to stop!???

I bled for almost 4-5 months after my first c-section. It was awful.

Though with my second, it was only a couple weeks.

It could be anything really. Are you on birth control at all?

The ob will most likely do an U/S to make sure that there isn't any retained tissue. If there is, they can treat it a couple of ways, either monitoring or a D&C. They'll probably need to check for infection. It might be possible for your dr to start you on some sort of birthcontrol pills (I believe they use progesterone) to help stop everything and get your body back to normal. Sometimes things can get a little screwy after delivery.

I don't know what to tell you. :( I bled for 4 months pp until I got Depo because my doctor made it seem so great and in reality it wasn't!! I will NEVER get it again but Depo did stop my bleeding. I got on the pill at 6 weeks pp and it didn't work to stop my bleeding.

I'm not on birth control. I was hoping my Doctor would've put me on some after doing a little internet research last week. But she won't until I see the ob/gyn.

I only bled lightly for about 3 weeks, then I didn't have any until the 29th of March and then the end of April (normal 3 day periods). I hope they can give you some answers. Good luck love!

They probably want to be cautious and make sure you have an U/S done first. Stuff left in there can cause all sorts of problems. It's just better to be safe than sorry.

I bled for 9 weeks the first time i delivered. It was a vaginal delivery though. My c-section bleeding lasted 3 or 4 weeks on average.
