The best kind? I didn't check if there was a sticky but I was wondering how you ladies feel about the single medela manual pump? I just wanna start out slow and do it by myself. I heard the electric ones can hurt, etc. TIA!

I have the medela pump in syle advance and i also have the medela freeststyle. Although the freestyle was almost $400 i felt that it wasnt as good as the medela pump in style advance. The medela pump in style advance has a much better suction and its stronger then the freestyle. Just because the freestyle cost more doesnt mean it works better!!! I love my medela pump in style advance its the best pump out there and i have tried alot of them. As for electric hurtung trust u will get used to it. if u use a manual pump ur mussle will hurt to from all that manual pumping to. Electric is way better! if u want to produce more milk i highly suggest a double pump. Single pumps waste time and r very messy.

thanks for the feedback! I am going to try and EBF and I will have to go back to work after 8 weeks sadly so I am wanting to pump and store as much as I can. I only lasted a month with DS and I want to do it for so much longer.

I want a Medela, but I can't drop $300+ on a pump, so I'm not sure which one I'm going to get. All I know is it needs to be a double electric.

I got a Madela Swing (single electric) and insurance paid for part of it. I think I paid $50. That was March of 12 though. Lol. My insurance policy has changed at least 3 times since then (still the same plan) but call yours and just see. You never know until you call!

I bought the medela harmony. Ive never tried it. With my last i had a cheap first years one from walmart and it worked perfect for what i needed it for. My sil just bought the same one i have and she said it works well but it kinda hurts.
I like manual ones better than electric though.
Unless your pumping a lot...then id look into a good electric

I have BCBS and they're mailing me today the medela pump in syle advance. It's a dual electric pump and I'm so excited! Have you tried calling your insurance to see if they cover one? I think WIC can also give you a free pump if you have WIC and plan to EBF.
