You don't have custody.....so who does, if he doesn't?

I'd think whomever has legal custody would be the one to file for child support... seeing as it's to support. the. child....

You don't get child support for a child that doesn't live with you

I signed it over to him. I take the kid to doctors appointments and keep her 90% of the time. I spent $10k and did not have any money left. He spent $900 on daycare, I said I'd take $400 and keep her here. Please don't be mean. I can barely survive. I tried my hardest. This lawyer thought someone else was paying her and spent $5k in a month.

No, you cannot file child support for a child you have zero custody of.

I have the kid 90% of the time and he abandons her with me. He says "can you babysit?" and picks her up 3 days later.

You have to have some type of custody to get child support, 50% or more. So you'd have to go back to court to change your custody agreement formally before going after child support. Can I ask why you have the child 90% of the time if he has full custody? Not trying to be rude I'm just confused.

He wrote a letter saying he paid me $400 a month to social services. Its a stupid situation. I want to talk to social services but I think this sounds pretty put there. :(
It's a rediculous situation.

From Canada so have no idea how family court works there, but that sounds like grounds for an appeal to me. Is there no public law office there to help you? Here we have family court clinics and that sort of thing to help people who can't afford to retain a lawyer. Is there ANYTHING like that in your state? Seems awful that you lose custody just because you can't afford the fight.

Doesn't matter. And why do you keep saying "the kid"? That sounds so impersonal.

Ok. I really don't give a f**k. It is a kid. My daughter? I don't care.

This story makes no sense.

You said you signed over rights, then have some nonsensical story about thousands of dollars spent on lawyers.

So he spent thousands to get a kid he gave to you to take care of?

And you signed over rights to a child you still take care of?

You cannot ask for child support for a child you have no legal rights to.

You can also walk into any courthouse and file your own papers and say, he has custody but I watch and pay for this child alone, I need custody and child support.
