So today I had my 11 week ultrasound and I didn't get to hear the heartbeat. Should I be worried? I remember reading somewhere that if you don't hear the heartbeat around this time the higher your chances are of having a miscarriage. My pregnancy is already high risk so I'm really worried.

Anyways my main question is, when did you get to hear the heartbeat?

Oh and p.s.
I saw it beating (didn't look like it was beating fast though)

I had a 10 week one with DD and the doctor said he never bothered trying to find a heartbeat until 12 weeks because sometimes they can't and he didn't like to worry people over nothing. :) If you SAW the heartbeat, everything should be good as far as that goes.

Did they use a doppler to listen for a heartbeat and weren't able to locate it, or was it just an ultrasound? I'm pretty sure that I've never heard the heartbeat for any of my ultrasounds, but I could see it. I'm not sure that ultrasounds can even pick up sound since they are using sound waves to create the picture you see. So if they only used the ultrasound and not a doppler I wouldn't be worried at all, especially if you could see it. It doesn't hurt to call your Dr and have him/her have a listen if you're worried. They're pretty good with that sort of thing :)

I was 13 weeks when I had my ultrasound and I didn't hear the heartbeat either. They didnt use a Doppler at that appointment but on the u/s I could see her bouncing around (literally!) and wriggling, then s*****g her fingers so I knew she was ok lol. I went to my gp with a sinus infection at 16 weeks and he asked if I would like to hear the baby's heartbeat while I was there. Of course I wanted to lol and it was fine. That was the first time I ever heard it. I bought my own Doppler at 19 weeks so I could listen at home every night, I loved it! :D

:!: They can definitely get the heartbeat sound while doing an u/s, I've listened to the heartbeat every time I've had an u/s except for the very first one.
