I always hated my middle name throughout childhood so I see where you are coming from. That's definately something to think about.

Quoting Kelly McCloskey:" I was hoping that it wouldn't be such a problem because it would be the middle name and the first name would be a girls name."

how many people go or use their middle name on any sort of document?

I've worked in call center's for WAY too many years. More often than not, bank accounts get mislabeled as Male. This causes huge problems when trying to access accounts over the phone. being called or have mail come in the name of Mr. Michael Smith.
its just a really REALLY bad idea. If you must honor this person, Michaela is the best way to go.

My son was supposed to be a girl, and we were going to be naming her after my great grandmother. When our big surprise arrived we went with a masculine version of her name, and just explained to family that he was still named after her. Everyone loves his name.

I personally think Michaela is a GORGEOUS name, and I'm sure Michael will understand :)
