Maybe just do a different middle name?
I'm sure that will make him so happy. My husband wants this one to be a jr if it's a boy...not gonna happen!
Also, my best friend's fiance is a third...they call him Trae
Just call him John or Jay.
I think it's ridiculous. My husband's a junior and hates it. He says our kids won't be named after him, which I'm thankful for.

My husband is a jr aswell and he refuses to let me even give a boy his middle name lol.
Is it Johnny or Jonathan. If it was Jonathan I would call the baby that. If its actually Johnny then I would go with Tripp
Be aware that once your kid starts school they will likely call him by the name on the birth certificate not by Tripp. I have a friend who named her daughter Margaret & calls her Maggie, the school refuses to call her Maggie & all paperwork (rewards, field trip notices, report cards) say Margaret. The teacher last year refused to call her Maggie.
I wasn't thrilled with the thought of 2 Kevin's either, lol. At first I decided I was going to call him Anthony(middle name), but we decided on calling him K.J. for Kevin Junior, lol. I like it now, and it was important to DH to have his first son named after him so I got over it, with the condition that the next baby I could name myself. :)
I wouldn't. Making our baby a jr was a very last resort
If all else fails you could call him Trace :)
Quoting GavinsMomJohnnysWife:" He said he has wanted to name a son after him since he was a kid. I am tired of the name game so it is what it is."
I would use his first and middle name as middle names and give the kid his own first name. He's still being named after his dad.
My husband has the same name as his father. It doesn't say Jr or anything on anything official but they have the same name. He wanted to name our son after him, even though he's not crazy about the name. I don't understand why you'd do that to a kid. What really is the purpose? So you can say... "yep, that's my boy!"? lol
We gave our son as a middle name, DH's first name. That was that.
