....well when you've heard catholics call themselves Not christians....that they are catholics and not christians...their can be confusion.

I think it is a semantics problem because european catholics don't say that they are not christian, so I wondered if maybe in America Christian is taken to often mean protestant so when they say they are not christian they mean, as you said that they are not protestant.

I grew up in the Catholic church and have never once in my entire 36 years EVER heard a Catholic person say that they weren't Christian.



I've heard only heard Christians say that Catholics aren't Christian.

There are plenty of differences between Catholics and Protestants, but polytheism is absolutely not one of them.
