I have no experience with an epidural..but i had pitocin. It makes contractions wayyy more intense, and imo hurt like a bitch! I also had back labor too so idk if that hadanything to do with all the pain. Hopefully with this one i wont have to have pitocin again...i plan on o epi again as well.

Oh! Never knew that. Yeah I was way more shaky afterwards. The itchiness was from the epi though, I believe.

I was very like you. My labor plan was no drugs, no intervention, as natural as possible. That went completely out of the window after my water broke on my due date (not leaking, gushing everywhere kind of broke), but I was not contracting 6 hours later. I agreed to Pitocin, but I only progressed from a fingertip to a tight 2 in 19 hours with the max allowed Pitocin. My contractions were on top of another and off the charts, but I never progressed because of his position. Pitocin does not mean you have to have an epidural. Don't let anyone make you believe otherwise if you don't want an epidural. I ended up with an emergency c-section. I just wouldn't progress. When he was delivered, the doctor had to unwedge him from my pelvis. His birth could not have been further from what I had planned, but any fear I had went away when it meant doing what needed to for him. Labor dust. Soon you'll have your little one!

Cervidil (or however you spell it) helped me dilate really fast. I'm not a fan of Pitocin either. Cervidil will cause you to dilate and have contractions. As far as meds go I wasked for Demerol. It only put me to sleep, I still felt everything.

I do great with both my epidural experiences! You coulda hit my legs with a sledgehammer and I wouldn't have felt it!
My last daughter I had to be induced. When they started the pitocin though I was really nervous, I started having a panic attack and then instant hot flash. I lost my hearing and vision and they actually had to stop it and wait an hour to restart. I doubt that's happened to too many ladies though lol. The pitocin was really slow though. I was in there for 10 hours and after having my water broken and not progressing as nicely, I almost had to have a c section.
