Paragaurd? Jessica +2 Due September 7; 2 kids; Florida 3471 posts

Just curious but I had the paragaurd put in Wednesday and my OB said not to do anything at all for the first two weeks and then use back up the next two weeks after that. No big deal but I was just curious why you can't do anything for the first two weeks. Has anyone else been told this or know the reason?

No. I was told to use a condom for the first month.

Hmm I wonder why he said it. I went on the website for paragaurd and didn't see anything so figured someone on here may know! :)

Paragard is effective immediately.

Eta: and you can have sex whenever you're up to it.

Possibly. It may have been special instructions for you, so I'd just follow them.

Extra precaution, I guess. You can go two weeks without, right? :P

Lol yeah. He is a very cautious OB after I had my daughter (delivered by a different OB) I only had to wait a week to drive and stuff. With this one after I had my son he did everything at two weeks. He even has his patients come in at two weeks to discuss any issues they may be having then again at 6 weeks!
