My natural birth qh90 1 child; British Columbia 33 posts20th May
On may 9th ( 39 weeks exactly) at 3 in the morning I woke up having some period like cramps. I had these cramps before when pregnant a few times so I didnt think anything of it. They came and went and were uncomfortable but nothing that seriously hurt. I called my friend around 10 am and asked if she wanted to go for a walk. we went for a 2 hr walk. I had the cramps all day and when we were walking there was quite a bit of pressure. then that evening I started to get bloody show. I honestly didnt think i was in labour because I had had the cramps before, they didnt hurt and I heard you could still wait weeks. That night the cramps were hurting a bit more but ive had pretty bad period cramps in the past so they werent that bad. Then the next morning on the 10th I felt really wet when I woke up so I thought maybe my water had broke. I called the hospital at 9 and they told me to come in. I went in and was told I was at at 4. I hate hospitals so I asked if I could leave. they said yes so me and my boyfriend walked down the street to a resturant and had lunch. It was hard to walk but I wanted this baby out so I just kept going lol. We came back around 4 pm and I was at a 6. They broke my water and thats when It actually started hurting really bad. about and hour after I was in transition. The pain was so bad I wanted an epidural but when they checked me at 7:30 I was a 10. So I started to push a bit after that and at 8:40 my baby was born :) I was drinking raspberry leaf tea from 32 weeks , 3 cups a day so I wonder if that helped with having no real pain until my water broke and then i was only in a lot of pain for 2 hours maybe? so i recommend drinking it if your dr says its ok. and I was walking a lot when pregnant. baby was born 39 weeks and 1 day. I didnt have any pain meds or iv or anything it was all natural. even though i wanted an epidural if you wait until you absolutly need one you might not even need one like me lol

Congrats! Hour labor sounds like mine. I had no real pain pain till my water broke and by the time the Epi crosses my mind I was fully dilated and pushing! Congrats!
I am super jealous honestly. Everytime I read one of these I feel like a failure lol. Congrats though! It really is awesome when things go the way you want them to!

dont feel like a failure!! i wanted the epidural soo bad lol i was just lucky i was already a 10 when i wanted it. but if i wasnt a 10 i would have defiantly gotten one an hour of that pain was horrible i cant imagine people who have to go through that longer
With my first, I labored for two weeks before being induced. Contractions every 7 minutes, for 14 days exactly. I was in hard labor for 13 hours, only to end up having a csection. lol! Glad everything worked out for you!!!
