Anemia and pregnancy? Danniella Diaz Due December 30; Kent, Washington 35 posts

My husband and I found out we are expecting 3 weeks ago. This is our first child and I was already anemic prior to my pregnancy but it was under control. But now that i am pregnant it seems to have gotten worse! I feel tired all the time, I get headaches and i feel nauseous all the time. Morning sickness is not helping at all, I've tried all the home remedies I heard of but it is not helping. My doctor increased my Iron and Vitamin B12 dosage as well as added vitamin C. Does anyone know anything else i can take to help with the nausea and headaches or any foods that might help with my problem?

Ginger, lemon, saltines, Tylenol for the headaches may help or cold compresses to forehead and/or back of neck, try small meals, etc. congrats!

Eat spoonfuls of peanut butter daily. As much as you can. I had to do that after I had my first because I turned anemic and it helped so very much!!

Someone had told me about the peanut butter before but i have never tried it but if it worked for you it might just work for me too. Thanks for the advice.

Oh it was amazing!! I still do it now even tho I'm not anemic anymore just hypoglycemic. If I start feeling tired I eat a spoonful and feel pretty good!

Spinach, beans, liver, and a lot of breakfast cereals have iron in them. If taking iron doesn't help you may end up needing to get IV treatments done. :(
