Quoting BαtMαɳ:" Are you guys willing to travel a couple hours in either direction to find a better deal? My parents drove 3 hours to buy a car that was a way better deal than anything down here."

The cars we are looking at are about 2 hours away.... The ones closer to our house cost more. :(

Ya you definitely don't want a car that has ever had frame damage. If you guys look hard enough you could find an older car with less miles. But usually it will be domestic.

my husband work three minutes from our house. Other than him driving there we will mostly use my van. The only long trips the car will go on is if we get stationed to another state. So I am unsure if I should be worried about the miles or not especially if Toyotas are supposed to last so long?

Typically you can drive Toyota's forever. But not every car is the same. And that car in the next year is probably going to need a lot of maintenance if it already has that many miles on it. Which is okay, every car needs maintenance.
Were those cars fleet?

carfax or autocheck will say if they had been. Which is fine, it would just explain the miles. Most people don't drive that much, so I wouldn't doubt it was a rental or owned by a business. If it was a rental, they HAVE to do maintenance or they can be sued, but it might smell like smoke, people don't follow rules.

Don't let anyone trick you by saying the smell can come out, it doesn't and won't.
We deodorize our cars but the smell eventually comes back, although you might be used to it by then, others won't.
We've had people try to return cars after a few months because of it. The smoke gets everywhere, the fibers of the seat belt, the padding inside the seats, places you can't shampoo.

I don't think you're looking hard enough or in the right spots.

Are there any particular sites you recommend? I've checked the first three pages of google searchs, typed in the city & searched for their dealerships, looked on craigslist. I am unsure where else to look :/
