know anything about TV SET UP? KNZ. 3 kids; Washington 59253 posts

Posting from my phone so, yeah.

I moved our PS3, blue ray and Comcast cable box.
Thought I kept everything plugged in correctly.
I'm getting sound and picture fine with movies, but only picture with cable tv, no sound.

Our surround sound is plugged into the blue ray player...should there be a cord connecting the CABLE BOX and BLUE RAY so tv sound works or is it something different?

Any advice would be great

I think you need to plug in the surround sound to the tv. Since everything is hooked up to it. Not to sure, that's what my husband is for! ;)

Yeah, I didn't unplug anything from the actual tv, just the different players to switch entertainment centers.
Wanted to have it all built/up 'n running before he got home. I don't like man help :D

It doesn't sound like the cable box is plugged into the TV. Hubby says to plug the surround sound into the TV, first, then plug everything else into the TV, too, so that way everything is running through the TV, not the Blu-Ray. That was Chinese to me, but I hope you get it. Lol.

You probably need an HDMI cable connecting your Surround Sound to your TV

What kind of Surround sound do you have..?

High end One where you purchase the speakers Separately

Or
One of the ones that comes with all the little speakers?

I have a 7.1 Surround sound so i know a little bit

Ohhh, then you might need an HDMI cord for your cable box and the surround sound.

bleh I wish I could post a pic
I dunno what kind. Speakers are mounted on the wall in different places.
I didn't unplug anything from the tv. I feel like it has to be something to do with the cable box connecting cos the speakers are working fine for the blue ray player.

Ok so like a cord between the blue ray box (where all the speakers are plugged in) and the cable box?
cos when I was moving stuff I saw an extra cord that I wasn't sure was just loose or connecting the two

I'm not sure haha there was lots of open slots but I unplugged and re-plugged everything one at a time to avoid...this. Ha, but I have this cord here to plug them into each other then?

Is the blu ray player on? Turn it off if it is.
