Ive been speaking with my midwife about my pregnancy with DS and she says that because he was big (almost 10 pounds) and I ended up needing an instrumental delivery due to shoulder dystocia, that I wont be allowed to have this one in a birthing unit.
Shes explained that the likelihood of it occurring again is too high for her to feel comfortable with me birthing anywhere except the hospital.
I know given my family history that I'm highly unlikely to have a baby smaller than 9 pounds since besides preemies, there has not been a small baby born in my family for the three generations that we can track, heck I was 5 weeks early and 8 pound 7 ounces.
Sorry if I'm rambling a bit, I guess my question is, did anyone on here have a normal delivery with a big baby following a previous, complicated one?
my mom did. But if your midwife recommends a hospital delivery I would go with it. I wouldn't want to chance it.
My first pregnancy was complicated. They had to use a suction cup to help deliver and I hemorrhaged, weighed almost 9 pounds. My second baby was normal and a little over 10 pounds! No intervention needed.
I've only had one but he was an ounce short of 9 pounds and I had no problem at all getting him out of there :) and I don't have "good baby birthin' hips" as my mom would say lol. But I agree with the other poster, if your midwife recommends the hospital, I'd listen to her.
