I have this scarf/shawl thing I got for christmas a few years back...its really nice but I have never used it. I was fiddling around with it last night and tied it into a sling. It seems to work really well and will even hold my 4 year olds weight. I got all excited about my free carrier and googled how to use a scarf as a sling to make sure my knots were good, etc...but all the tutorials are saying you need at least 11 feet of scarf. Hell, that's not a scarf, that's a f**king moby :?

Mine is about 2.5 feet wide by 4 feet and seems to work just fine. Is it really unsafe because its not 11 freaking feet long?

Seems a little small to me. Just buy fabric at a Hobby Lobby, Micheals or Wal-Mart. Not very expensive, it where I buy fabric for my headwraps which are generally 6-8 feet long.
