YES!!!

I couldn't afford to hire the wonderful doula here to do mine, so I ended up doing it myself. I steamed it first, sliced it, and dried it in the food dehydrator. Then I ground it in a coffee grinder and added a little fenugreek before putting it in the empty gelatin capsules.

I wanted so badly to do this, but my midwife said it was to messed up. :( they had to manually pull the remainder out. (without drugs btw) it hurt like a mother f****r.

That sucks. I am at risk for retaining my placenta and hemorrhaging with future pregnancy's, so I don't know that I will ever be able to anyway.

I started hemorrhaging as well, they were about to transport me but my body kicked ass lol. I firmly believe it was because I stayed so calm.

Yeah, I did again at 5 weeks too because they thought all of the placenta was expelled and it wasn't.

Oh yeah. Especially in terms of milk production and lessening of PPD symptoms. I have a long history of depression, which puts me at an increased risk of severe PPD, and my magic placenta pills pretty much wiped it out. I also had more energy when I was taking them. I'm pissed that they got thrown away when we were moving, because I could sure use them now.

This is why I want to do it. I have major clinical depression and last time my PPD caused it to get worse. I just wish SO would be supportive, he told me it was gross, and basically primitive.

Let me know if you decide you want to do it yourself and I will walk you through it. If you've ever handled raw liver, you can do this. When it's cooked it actually looks, smells, and tastes a lot like liver.
