Hi I am almost 16 weeks pregnant. My doctor confirmed to me it was a boy. While a clinic me and my husband went to said it is a girl. What is going on?! :(

At 16 weeks, it's still early to tell, in general. You have the most accurate guess at gender closer to 20 weeks. At any point though, you have to realize it is a guess, period - there are only two ways to find out for sure what baby is....one is birth, and the other is an amniocentesis, which should be avoided unless your baby has indicators of a genetic problem.

You're still super early and a lot of the times they still look like each other. I would get another scan done around 20 weeks and go by that.

If the clinic told you girl before you're doctor, its probably a boy then! At the time of the clinic ultrasound they might have not gotten a good picture, or the baby didn't have the 'parts' yet. lol. :) Either way, they should confirm it at your anatomy scan around 20 weeks.

You're only 16 weeks. Most times it's to early to tell.

Do you have sonogram pictures?

Do you have pictures to post? You should be able to tell at 16 weeks.

Post a picture and I can give you my best guess! I've looked at quite a few of these! Usually at 16 weeks if its a boy you can tell that it is a BOY. sometimes a girl can be swollen down there and mistaken for a boy. Both of mine you could tell at 15 weeks that they were defiantly BOYS!

My mom had an amniocentesis done with my sister and it said she was a boy. It was wrong of course that was in 1981. LOL

Uh, doubtful. An amniocentesis looks at the chromosomes. There are either XX chromosomes for a girl, or XY chromosomes for a boy. There is no way to see something wrong with amniocentesis as there is with an ultrasound, it's either one or the other.

Looks like a girl possibly; but that's a really crappy machine.

Is there anyway you can show the full sonogram where it isn't zoomed in? It'll help me know the angle of the view.

I had a wrong amniocentesis. It happens less than 1% of the time. It was blamed on either the fact that I had a vanishing twin pregnancy and they got cells from that, or the lab checked the wrong box on the form by mistake.
