Yesterday was the big ultrasound we had been waiting for, hoping we could find out the sex of our first baby. I'm so disappointed in the ultrasound tech! First of all when she called me to go back, I politely asked is it okay for dh and mil to go back? She just shrugged and said I guess....so we all go back I lay down and she start the ultrasound. She said I'm gonna check baby's heart and brain, and then wouldn't say a word! I asked a couple times trying to engage in the experience what certain things were and if baby looked healthy, she just would only grumble! She never even said yes or no let alone elaborate on what she was doing!

We ended up being there for about 10 minutes when she scanned between the baby's legs and said, well I guess female but who knows for sure I wouldn't swear to that answer! I looked over at dh and said we're having a girl with a big smile! She says now I never said girl I said maybe female but I honestly don't know what else to tell you! Okay you guys a free to go now!!

I hope I'm not overreacting! I'm not so much disappointed that she couldn't tell us the sex but more that the experience was far from anything I ever expected! Sorry for the long rant.....

I'd be pissed. She didn't even offer pictures?

I would have filed a complaint against her I hate it when people have jobs and act like they don't want to be there if you don't like it dont work

It sounds like she was having a crappy day. I'm sorry. I've had a couple of techs that refused to even let me see the baby. I just assumed they had a stick up their ass that day. When I had my anatomy scan, the tech didn't say much at first when she was taking her measurements, but when she was done doing that, she went back through and let us see the baby. Talk to your OB about it. He might give you a freebie.

honestly, this is how both of my anatomy scans have gone with my kids.

I cant understand why these women arent willing to give moms a more happy experience, but I try to see it from their point of view. They do 100s a day, and it is a job, and a very very important job. They have a lot of measurements to take to make sure baby is healthy and growing, and Im sure they've seen many who arent, making it hard for them to engage you and then have to halt it when they see something wrong but cant tell you.

We always book a 3D u/s at a place that does them just for entertainment reasons....thats our fun day and our day to be engaged in the experience :)

You should have reported her! I don't know what insurance you have but I'd be pissed with that experience, especially since I pay for my insurance. Technically you employed them and you didn't deserve that! I swear, some people are in the wrong profession. She obviously is board and hates her job.

I think we will look into the 3d ultrasound! I guess for the real deal costing us $395 I just wished she could have at least said baby is healthy!! I MIT give them a call and just let them know I was not pleased with her bedside manner, or I guess lack of!!!

We pay for ours as well it's pretty expensive! The anatomy scan is $395, which we didn't mind at all! We want to make sure that everything is okay and do whatever e can to have a healthy pregnancy and baby! But again I don't think it's acceptable behavior to treat you patient/client this way, we were the last lucky ones on Friday so she must have had a rough week! Monday I will give the office a call.

I understand your frustration. I've spent hundreds of dollars on ultrasounds this pregnancy, and I wasn't even allowed to see my baby in two of them. I complained to my OB and he said I could have an additional ultrasound. I figured it would be a freebie, but nope, they billed me for it.

That's bull shit I would mention it to the dr at your next appointment like did the tech give you any pics she gave me 1 of the babies leg! On yeah and by the way is the baby a girl or boy?!

I would but kinda rude about how she acted that happend to me when I went for the first ultra sound and the tech looked for littlerly 2 seconds and gave me a date and told me to go to the room I told the dr she gave me 1 of the 3 pics the tech out in my folder and apologized I also told her how I was unsure of the date being what she said being I couldn't have conceived then and they ended up redoing the ultrasound at my next appointment and the date changed by a week (not a big deal but I got 3 pics that visit lol)
