I pick up the big pieces, I don't sweep or anything but I make sure I have cleaned up what should reasonably be cleaned up with hands.

Because they're my kids, not someone else's problem. Ya it's their job to clean...but...there's a difference between expecting someone to do their job and being flat out rude.

Yes, for the same reason I don't drop my unfinished food on the floor for shits and giggles. Theyre waitresses, not janitors. And I wasn't raised by wolves. The extra time they spend cleaning up after my lazy ass is business they're losing.

Its said that TIPS stands for "To Insure Proper Service". Basically that your sever is attentive to your needs and what not. But in reality its because we generally make crap money, and a good portion of us are trying to pay for college lol

Big stuff, sure but I'm not going to pick up tiny little crumbs.

From being a member on hear I'm aware that you top for most things, what I really don't understand is why waiters are paid so poorly and expected to make a living on tips. It just really doesn't seem fair at all!

I pick up the big stuff and wipe the crumbs and stuff off the table with a napkin

Well, my husband made upwards of 150 dollars on busy nights and around 60 on slower nights. So really, he made more money than if he got paid minimum wage. And that didn't include his paycheck.

Its a vicious cycle. We get paid so little because we get tipped. We are tipped because we make so little. I honestly have no idea how the custom got started.

Yes I clean up after her. She hardly ever throws things on the floor but when she does I try to pick it up the best I can.

It's to drive down the cost of the actual food. The establishment pays their employees less and therefore their overhead cost is less and they don't have to charge as much for food. In turn, the customers are now responsible for tipping their waiter for providing them a full service meal.

Either way the customer still pays more though... well in theory.

I didn't say it was a brilliant theory.
