So today I had enough energy to clean pretty good, so I organized and what not. Took the sheets off beds and the extra stuffed animals off my son's bed and most importantly the water sippy cup off his bed. He drinks out of this cup every night, and he's had it for at least a week. When it's empty I just rinse it out and refill it. Well today I decided it'd been too long that he's had it since I can't remember how long it's actually been, so I took the stopper out and was going to wash it. But instead I found MOLD in the spout stopper!!!!!!!!!! Omg. I feel horrible. He's been sick for about two weeks now, no fucking wonder. He's been drinking mold every night. Fml :( :( :(

So, now what? Do I make an appointment with his pedi? He's three.

He's been sick for 2 weeks and you haven't taken him to his pedi yet?

If he's been sick for 2 weeks, yes you take him to the doctor.

Maybe it's just a running nose?
Yes OP, take him to the doctor.

Sorry if I sound like a bitch, but why the hell would you NOT wash out the dippy cup after every use? That's disgusting. Saliva will get into small spaces in cups like that and get nasty.

Yes I've taken him to the doctor. Twice actually. They said it was allergies complicated with a virus and gave us medicine (cough Med and an allergy Med) neither have been helping. Both times they've been sure that's what it was and he'd get better soon.

Idk. I was rinse the cup out after every use, I just assumed it was enough.

Thanks for kicking me while I'm down though.

I can't imagine letting my son drink out of the same dirty cup every night.

You're not a horrible mom. We all make mistakes. Now you know to wash it. Yes I would take him to the pedi.

So yeah, take him back there and tell them that. The sippy always should be soaked in soapy warm water. Get yourself in the habit of doing it every morning and if possible work on weaning him off it, since 3 year olds usually should be drinking out of a cup.

Yeah, I don't run my kid to the dr every time he's sick.
They have to build immunities somehow. Geez.

Op, that is pretty gross though. Also stagnat water is nasty on its own. You should have been giving him new water every night and doing more than just rinsing the cup. Mold grows in WET places lol. I doubt it's terrible for him though. Most molds can't hurt that much. But I'd take him in if he's been sick for two weeks and he drank mold on top of that.

Sorry, mama. We all make mistakes. Just call his pedi in the morning.

I'm sorry that has happened, we all make mistakes tho and now all you can do is do better.
Call the Dr and see what they suggest.
