How long was the NICU stay? What kind of health issues were going on? Will they let you deliver vaginally when it is this early?

Not going into too much detail about why I'm asking, but I'd like a little info and reassurance.

I had a 35+6 weeker and she had no health issues(other than jaundice) and no nicu time. I went into pre-term labor on my own and was5 cm when I got to the hospital then my water broke.

DD was born at 35 weeks 1 day. No NICU time. She was 5 lbs 8 oz so on the small size. She was jaundiced so she had to stay in the billirubin beds but they brought the bed in the room with me so she never left our room. I delivered her vaginally. We left the hospital 4 days later (just had to stay extra for the jaundice). She was kind of jumpy for a while due to an immature nervous system but other than that she was perfect & you'd never know that she is a preemie now.

ETA; I kept going into pre-term labor from 28 weeks on, they decided to just keep me there until I had her or hit 37 weeks & at 35 weeks my water broke during my hospital stay.

Did you go as soon as you thought you might be in labor? What were your symptoms?

How long did you wait before you went in?

I had 33+0 weeker and a 35+4 weeker. Both vaginally. My 35 weeker came home with me, no problems. My 33 weeker came home after 14 days in a special care unit, no problems just needed a little O2 for a few days and to learn how to eat.

My first was born at the same gestation and we went home the next day! However, they say boys grow slower....my first boy was a 37 weeker after lots of meds to stop preterm labor. I'm at 34 weeks almost with this baby and it's a boy again, no interventions. I'm just worrying.

If you breastfed your 33 weeker, did they let you? I am really worrying that I won't be able to breastfeed him. I DON'T want to bottle/formula feed.

Babies typically don't develop the suck and swallow reflex until around 34 weeks so once she hit that age I was able to breastfeed.

Yes I went in three days before having her. They gave me a shot and sent me home (I was still contracting). The contractions slowed down a lot so I thought everything was ok. I woke up having contractions and a bloody show. I went to the hospital about an hour after they started and was already at 5.

He came at 35 weeks and had to stay in NICU for feeding/weight gain issues and jaundice for 9 days. Once he got over those, everything was fine except his development being slow but still considered normal. I couldn't breastfeed because I wasn't able hold him until like, day 3 plus I didn't have a good support system.

And yes, I delivered vaginally.

Yes you can deliver naturally. I didn't get to because of my complication but unless it was emergency then yes it's fine.

My 35 weeker was gonna get to stay with me but she had low blood sugar so had to be in the nicu for 3 days. We used donor breastmilk in an NG tube to supplement her but she always got to bf first then they had to too her off to keep her blood sugar up. Then the third day they let me try bfing with no supplementing and her BS stayed up so they let her stay in my room the 4th day then we went home. She also was jaundice so she had bili lights until she went home. I had steriods at 26 weeks though too so that may have helped. 35 seekers are so hit or miss. Some are ready and some can't even eat or breathe or regulate body temp on their own. It just depends.

I had my daughter 2 days after 35 weeks because of preeclampsia. no problems, no NICU stay. we were prepared for the NICU because they didn't expect her lungs to be completely developed. but they were and she left three days later when I was discharged. (:

I had my daughter at 35 weeks, just 2 weeks ago. She never went to the nicu and got to come home then day after us. She had to do a night under the billi lights before she came home, her jaundice level wasnt high but they wanted to make sure it wasnt going to go up. She was 4lbs and 12oz and I delivered vaginally. She got a 9 on both apgar tests. They had prepared us for a nicu stay and was very pleasantly surprised that she didn't need the nicu.

I had a scheduled c-section (due to vasa previa) at 34.5 weeks with my twins. They were 4lb2oz and 4lb15oz. They stayed in the NICU exactly 2 weeks. One needed CPAP for the first 36 hours. Other than that, it was just to establish breastfeeding (they had NG feeding tubes for about 10 days) and regulate body temps. No other complications.
