How does having him on the birth certificate and the paternity papers work?

Will I be able to put his name down even if he's not there to sign.

My husband (not married at the time) singed the paternity paperwork the day we were discharged.

In my state if he doesn't sign the papers before the birth or while in the hospital/ isn't present to sign, then no you can not put him on the BC. You can not give the child his last name either(unless that's your last name)

They don't do the birth certificate immediately after the baby is born. But, he would have to sign the affidavit to be included on the birth certificate when you fill the paperwork out. The paperwork has to be done within I think 48 hours of delivery.

He's in AIT now and I'm not sure if he will be allowed to leave. I've been getting different answers on that.

I'm giving him my last name.
The father and I aren't going to work out.

I'm kind of worried he won't sign it because of that if he does make it.

Then don't include him. You do not have to.

Honestly I don't even want him there anymore because all my attempts to talk to him since he's been out of boot camp were met with a response I couldn't answer back with to carry on the conversation or he ignored me. I feel like its his right to be there because he helped make the baby.

How would child support work though?

I wouldn't even bother with it if I felt like I could get by without it but I don't think I can.

You'd get a lawyer or go through DHS. Allege that he is the father, and they will do a paternity test, and then make him pay child support. If he wants to be there, I'd let him since like you said, he helped make the child. In order to get child support though, if you don't put him on the birth certificate, you'd have to prove it is his.

Okay thanks.

I'll definitely tell him when I go into labor so he can try to make it.
I was just wondering what would happen if he can't.

Nothing honestly. If you want him on the birth certificate and he is in the military I'm sure there are protocals to accomplish it. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. If things do workout, he can always do the DNA test and have the birth certificate changed

unless he signs the birth certificate his name wont be on it, but they usually dont do it until the day after the baby is born.
