I must say that when I was a teenager, I made sure I was prepared, by both the depo and him wearing condoms. Later, as an adult I got on the pill. I will admit I was the first to mention aloud that it seemed like an awful lot of people just did not take/use birth control correctly. Then, the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo I had taken for two years, at 9:58 every night by an alarm on my phone, didn't work. No antibiotics or any of the normal stuff that can screw it up. A few weeks after I found out I was pregnant, several people told me they had heard from different media sources that my brand was recalled due to a week switchup between weeks two and four. I did not do any research, I was already pregnant, didn't much care because it was too late. I think I would have been more upset. So, while I am fully aware that many times it is the users fault, I no longer judge- at least to anyone- unless I hear them say it was their fault. For OP response, while I know bc can fail, I am almost positive a sixteen yr old with a four month old has a steady way to prevent pregnancy. Concentrate on the baby, not sex. Especially if they are one of the people who's bc failed.

Quoting Destiel:" I don't think she'll be back ... which is a shame because I have journal articles waiting to throw at her :("

By all means, "throw at me" any article you like that you think explains why the majority of women on this site believe they used birth control correctly and it failed them.

Implant is just one example, I assume it can be somehow used incorrectly, as the rates for the IUD do differ (even if slightly) between "perfect use" and not (http://www.contraceptivetechnology.org/CTFailureTable.pdf).

No one is saying that its always contraceptive failure. They're saying it happens. And I'd like to know if you've personally spoken to a "majority" of members on here? So you saw a few posts and assume that a "majority" of women hold this opinion? Unless you have... your argument is invalid.

I've been around long enough to see how many people claim their BC failed, LOL. You don't have to interview everyone, they volunteer the information themselves.

She specifically said "a majority".

I never got the logic of this. Your 16 daughter gets pregnant, you support her, yet don't put her on BC and then ask her to get an abortion when she gets pregnant again? Hmm, k.

Well, I don't really think much of her really. It's her life & I just hope she makes the decision she can live with.
