Prepare for your new baby? I am not counting on having a baby shower because this is my second child, so I've been buying a jumbo pack of wipes or diapers every 2 weeks when I go grocery shopping.

But as for the big stuff.. I'm not sure if I should just be putting money aside & buy everything later or buy things one at a time? I don't really have the storage for baby things until I move.. but I want to be totally prepared (& not broke lol) when the time comes.

ETA.. I have no baby items from having DD. Starting all over! lol

I would buy things gradually as I could afford them. Buying everything all at once would overwhelm me.

Make a list of everything you need
Separate into what you can buy second hand and what you need brand new then go from there

I would go to flea markets, consignment shops, and online facebook "yard sale" pages around my area. My mom, grandmother, and aunt each got him one of the "big items." My mom got the pack and play, my aunt got the crib, and my grandmother got the swing/bouncer.

I got everything else pretty much from friends (hand me downs) and randomly seeing something at the flea market or consignment shops though.

Great idea. Thanks.

You should totally do a shower! It really does help! Even if all you ask for is diapers and wipes, that would take a load off.
I had a second shower only because the kids are two years apart, and opposite sexes, so I literally had nothing.

BTW, I am very happy things worked out for you. I had a feeling they would! Miss talking to you :)

Thanks Kristen! I didn't want to give myself false hope, but deep down I knew things would too! I miss talk to you as well! :( Hope everything is great for you!

I have a feeling my sister might throw me a shower, but I'm not going to depend on it. I am, however, making Dan have a BBQ/Keg/Diaper party.

I would have a baby shower. It's a different sex, so different clothes and etc. Plus isn't your DD 4? They say after so many years it's okay to have a baby shower.

Quoting desert☮rain:" I know some people that have a baby shower for every child, I think that is kind of tacky. But I think with a new partner, and a baby that is a different sex than your first is just fine."

I agree. This baby has a different father and is a different sex, though.

& Chelsie.. I would love a babyshower, but I am not going to throw myself one obviously lol. I'm sure my sister or friend will throw one..I just am not going to count on it.

Since I am going to be pregnant all summer I am going to be hitting up a lot of garage sales!! For the smaller stuff like bottles and diapers and clothes, I would do like your doing and every paycheck spend so much on that stuff.

Wait and see. I wasn't planning on a shower with this baby either. As for the big things, save some cash, but wait until last to buy those. You'll always need wipes and diapers, so go all out on that one. But Dan's family may want to throw you a shower. Pat's family put together the one we're having tomorrow.

Since I'm not having a baby shower, I've just been buying things one at a time unless its clothing. Though I am waiting on diapers since I don't want to buy so much of one kid and turn out that baby has a sensitivity to them and end up having wasted a ton of money and not know what to do with the rest if no one I know is using that brand or the same size.
