What should a contraction feel like? Catie Buckingham Due June 5; Metamora, Illinois 14 posts30th May
Ok so I know it's a silly worry, but I'm concerned that I won't know what a contraction is when I feel it. My doctor said I'll know when I feel one. I am 39 weeks today and have been having really short pains the past two weeks. They last maybe five seconds and then go away. Sometimes they are sharp enough to even make me gasp, but they just don't last long. But lately they have been getting more frequent. I will have a couple within a minute or so. Is it possible for a contraction to feel like a bunch of little pains or will it be one big pain that stretches out for the full minute or so?

for me they were like a mix of the most intense diarrhea/gas pain and period cramps

My contractions always lasted 45-60 seconds.

Quoting **39 weeks**:" i dont think it feels like short pains to me it feels like im getting my breath taken away and my belly ... [snip!] ... does my chest im not 100% sure its a contraction but they come and go and this is my second an i forgot what it feels like :?"This is exactly what mine feel like this time around. So far they've only been Braxton Hicks though.....
