If you are a SAHM, do your kids take the bus to school, or do you drive them?

Why? What grade did you allow them to take the bus?

My sons not in school yet, but I'm hoping to drive him once he starts. I have no issues with the bus, except it comes by our house at 5:30am and school does even start until 7:30...I had to ride the bus my entire school career and hated getting up so fucking early...I won't make my son unless I have to.

Pre K and I drive. I never will have my kids take the bus when I'm home.

If they live in the local school district, they take the bus. They're 10 and 11 so it's not a big deal to me. This School year, however, we moved. I told them they could finish out the year at their old school and next year they will have to go to the local school. So I drove them for the last 4 months.

I want to drive my son but I feel like SO is gonna throw a shit fit, that I need to let him be a kid. I haven't talked to him about it, yet. I mean, we're literally less than a mile from the school.

My kids are young yet, and we're probably going to home school anyway, but if I did send them, they'd walk. We live close, like 3 blocks away.

I didn't know you had the option of taking the bus for less than a mile

Pre-k and there isnt a bus.

They will probably never ride the bus because my mon is a teacher at the school. So I can drop them off early and pick them up later and never have to fight the school traffic :)

Quoting JiLLiAN.:" Actually... I didn't even think to ask if he would get a bus. I just assumed being in kindergarten he would. Hmm.."

You need to live 2 miles away from the school to be eligible for bus service here.

My son isnt in school yet, but if I am not working by time he is in school, I will be driving him. Usually there is no supervision on the bus and I remember how they were when I was going to school (bullying.)

Other:

We live across the street from her school. Last year she was 4 and in kindergarten and I walked her to and from everyday because even though there are cross walk people with stop signs (we call then lollie pop people) the road is a main and very busy road and I felt comfortable walking her. This year she has asked to be able to walk to and from school by herself. So I let her and I just watch her from the front porch.

DS is 7 and in first grade. He rides the bus. I walk him to and from the bus stop because people don't know how to drive on my road. I can't drive but even f I did he'd ride the bus unless I woke up late or something.

Here you have to be more than a mile away to be able to take the bus, it won't stop any closer.
