Did you do it? With one or all your children? Did it work? What was your reasoning to do it?

I suffered severe PPD after my second son and am wanting to do EVERYTHING I can to avoid it this time around. I've heard amazing things about it so I'm getting it done, I'm getting half raw half steamed.. Should I get the tincture too? What about the balm? Did you get a placenta print??

I have SO many questions, could someone either answer here or PM so I can pick your brain :-)

Yup! I recommend encapsulation to everyone. The area I live in is super crunchy so there are like six companies that do placenta encapsulation but it's really easy to do yourself.

Not to hijack a thread but...none of the 3 doctors I've had for 3 births have even let us see the placenta, much less keep it. Is it just something you say "hey...save that for me?".

I've found TONS of places here that do it, prices are competitive so it's pretty cheap.

At my last 3 births I had to sign away my placenta to the hospital. I always had the option to keep it. This time I'm at a hospital that carts to a more natural approach and when I brought it up to my midwife she was all like oh yeah, we put in a Tupperware for you lol. So I'm gonna bring and ice box to keep I in ice and have SO throw it in the freezer till I come home.

OP I'm freezing 12 ping pong size balls for 2 weeks o raw smoothie, making a tincture, and encapsulating the rest. I'm desperate to make milk and feel more balanced after birth. Las time I was soooo stressed because we moved the day I came home from the hospital and lived wih my MIL who I couldn't stand and then moved across country at 10 weeks PP. it was so hectic. I feel like I will be able to transition easier. Especially since my SO will be working out of state after I have the baby.

Oh wow, that was a little hectic.. I've never had a problem with my supply, I always have an over supply and was pumping and dumping, will be freezing this time. (30oz dumped a day!) So will the placenta pills make me have EVEN MORE!?

Why in earth did you dump it! Donate it to human milk for human babies. There is a group in ech state and its women looking fr donor milk!

Idk if it will make you make even more milk! You are so lucky. If I got an extra 3oz a day that was a good day!

Oh trust me I know, I beat myself up for a long time.. I got really sick and if I had frozen it I would have had a great stock when I had to stop nursing.

This time I am freezing and when some are about to expire, a few weeks before they do I'm donating. I'm part of a human milk for babies group here. A friend of mine almost cried when she heard how much I made, she wasn't able to make enough for her baby :-( I felt horrible.
