Vaginal Bleeding after a C-section? Two Princesses 2 kids; San Pedro, CA, United States 7197 posts

I'm 24 days PP, and delivered via repeat scheduled c-section.
I know from last time around that a certain amount of vaginal bleeding after is normal, but I'm starting to worry.
The bleeding stopped around 3 weeks PP just like last time, but then has come back twice really heavy. Each time heavier than the last. The first time was two days ago, then it stopped again. Today it came out all of the sudden and my inner thighs were covered. It has now stopped again.
How long is it normal to bleed for, and should I be worried that it seems to be getting heavier each time it picks back up now?

Have you been doing anything extra? Extra lifting, walking?

If it is straight up gushes then you should call your doctor because that would be concerning to me.

It can be normal to have bleeding up to 6 weeks PP. However, with the stopping and starting I would be a little concerned but not really. When do you have your follow up appointment? If it is more than 2 weeks away then I would go ahead and call your doctors line and ask a nurse about it. Any clotting with the bleeding?

Not too much walking, no more than I was doing before. and I've had to lift heavy stuff a few times, but nothing too bad I don't think.
Should I eb concerned even if it's only a few large gushes and then it stops? I don't have cramps until after the gushes have stopped.

Mine stopped and started for about 7-8 weeks. My doctor said it was normal, and it was probably due to increased activity.

No clotting. Just large gushes that periodicly stop, and cramps after.
I'm supposed to see him next week, I guess I'll not worry about it until then.

I would at least call the doctor or try to get in sooner. It would concern me, just because it is gushes and not just bleeding. I was told to notify my doctor of anything heavier than a period.

Mine kinda "gushed" too. Like, I could feel it come out. I never had any cramps, though, but you're still pretty early PP so that could still just be everything shrinking back into place.

Oh ok. The cramps are getting annoying now, I'll for sure call. Wish they had a nurse line, but nope. Closed until Monday. He can be paged, but since I'm not a pregnant woman in labor I feel kinda weird doing that.

I wasn't freaked out until it was covering my thighs. Then Iwas like.. woe.
I'll talk to my OB's office Monday if it doesn't stop, but glad to know it's probably fine.
